Research Projects

As a result of our latest breeding and outdoor growing projects we are excited to announce the upcoming addition of several new Wild-Type species. Many others are doing fantastic as well.

WESTERN JACK-O'-LANTERN

Omphalotus olivascens is a Non-Edible species that has bio-luminescent properties. We have bred these to grow in large groups with a deep orange hue. They add a wonderful splash of color to the outdoor autumn landscape.

GRAY SHAGGY PARASOL

Chlorophyllum rhacodes is a delicious Choice Edible that is easy to grow in outdoor mushroom gardens. We have been working with this species for several years now and have amazing genetics that produce large, meaty mushrooms.

SULFUR TUFT

Hypholoma fasciculare is a Non-Edible species that appear in large clusters. The beautiful yellow color adds to the fall scenery. They are also highly luminescent and will glow brightly under UV light. Our phenotypes have a lovely deep yellow/orange color that will not disappoint.

WOOLLY BIRD'S NEST

Nidula niveotomentosa is a Non-Edible species of small cup shaped fungus, commonly known as Woolly Bird's Nest Fungus. It is found natively in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and other temperate regions worldwide. Nidula niveotomentosa can be distinguished from other birds nest fungi by the white woolly exterior of the cups, and the brown peridioles. These are always a much anticipated species in the fall.
